A Visionary Surgeon & Public Health Innovator
Relocated to India in 2007 from the United Kingdom to care for his mother diagnosed with breast cancer, and to dedicatedly serve his motherland by transforming breast healthcare.
Clinical Transformation (2007)
Established the KIMS-USHALAKSHMI Centre for Breast Diseases in Hyderabad, South Asia's first purpose-built comprehensive breast center, introducing a multidisciplinary care standard.
Public Health Advocacy & Charity
Founded the Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation in memory of his mother. Directed over 2,000 awareness campaigns, published Pink Connexion magazine, and created the world's first breast health app in 12 languages.
Surgical Education Leadership
President of the Association of Surgeons of India (2020) and President of the Association of Breast Surgeons of India (2015-2017). Convened MRCS/FRCS exams in India (benefiting 2,000+ trainees) and established the Fellowship of National Board (FNB) in Breast Surgery.

Breast Cancer Screening & National Policy Impact
Dr. Raghu Ram led South Asia's largest population-based Breast Cancer Screening Programme using Clinical Breast Examination (CBE) between 2012–2016, checking over 200,000 underprivileged women across 4,000 villages in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
This landmark initiative demonstrated the feasibility of delivering evidence-based breast cancer screening at scale in resource-limited settings and informed Government of India policy, paving the way for nationwide implementation of CBE under the National Health Mission since 2019.
